Mozambican basketball legend Clarisse Machanguana inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame

Clarisse Machanguana, a Mozambican legend and pioneer of African women's basketball, was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2026 at a ceremony in Berlin. She is the first Mozambican to receive this honor, recognized for her outstanding performances on the international stage, including a silver medal at AfroBasket 2013 and a gold medal at the 1991 African Games. Machanguana also shone in the NCAA and WNBA, playing for teams such as the Los Angeles Sparks and the Charlotte Sting. Off the court, she founded the Clarisse Machanguana Foundation and served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, dedicating herself to promoting education and sports for young people in Africa.
